Hellenbrand offers DI systems designed for high purity water applications. Ion exchange is a method for purifying water by trading ions in solution with ions held on resin reaction sites. Mixed Bed Ion Exchangers contain a percise mixture of cation and anion resin. The cation resin exchanges hydrogen (H+) for cations (i.e. sodium), while anion resin exchanges hydroxyl (OH-) for anions (i.e. chloride). The hydrogen and hydroxide combine to form water, eliminating all other ions. Mixed resin beds generate a high water quality (~18 Mega ohm-cm, depending on feed water quality).
Hellenbrand offers many designs to meet any flow requirements.
