Safe Drinking Water

Bring up Milwaukee and Walkerton and immediately we are reminded of the contamination crises’ that have troubled North America’s abundant water supply. Over 10 million people were subject to boil alerts in the United States between 1989 and 1993.

The Truth about Ground Water

Thought to be free of microbial contamination, recent research indicates that some ground waters are a source of waterborne disease. Described by diarrhea and vomiting in healthy individuals, for young children, elderly and immune-compromised people, these symptoms can be fatal.

“Exposure to microbial contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa (e.g. Giardia and Cryptosporidium) was likely the greatest remaining health risk management challenge for drinking water suppliers.” – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The Truth about Drinking Water

Viral and bacterial pathogens that are present in human and animal feces find their way into our drinking water through poorly constructed and maintained water wells, failed septic systems, leaking sewer lines, and by passing through soil and large cracks in the ground. Fecal contamination may also enter the distribution system through cracked or broken pipes.

Why Ultraviolet Light (UV) is the solution:

  • UV is the most effective, least complicated and least expensive technology to disinfect water.
  • UV light does not 'add' anything to the water stream such as undesirable color, odor, chemicals, taste or flavor, nor does it generate harmful by products.  It does not require chemical cleaning of a filtration medium and does not require backwash of infectious water into the environment.
  • UV is the only NSF certifiable microbiological water purification system.
